This is an easy to moderate hike less than two miles north of Kernville with great views and a nice creek.
It will be a loop hike that is just under five miles with 900 feet of elevation gain.
The majority of the gain is the first mile and a half of the hike on a smooth wide trail with a consistent engineered grade of 11%. This makes it nice for group socialization while making your way up the hill.
At the top of the hill we will see the forebay and penstocks, and enjoy views of the lake and Kernville from a great lookout point. From there we will continue around the hill to see the Cannell Creek syphon and Views of that canyon. We will hike downhill from there to Cannell Creek. The creek is flowing year round and has beautiful waterfalls and pools to sit at and put your feet in. We will stop for a snack break at one of the pools. After the creek it's less than a mile back to the cars.
The hike should only take around three hours, depending on how long we spend at the pools, and we'll be back in Kernville before 1:00.
The trail is mostly exposed, so bring plenty of water and a hat.
