We are meeting at the Mill Creek Trailhead at 9:00am to hike up to the grinding stone. The newts are out and hopefully there will be some wildflowers out. This section was was not burned in the Borel fire. If you want to continue up the trail, you may want to bring a mask to protect yourself from the ash of the burn area.

There are four stream crossing up to the grinding stone. The creeks are running high, be prepared to get your feet wet!

Options for hike length, round trip:
4 miles: hike to Glenn's plaque at 2nd stream crossing. Watch for poison oak!
5 miles: hike up to the mortar rock and back. (970 feet elevation gain)
7 miles: hike to saddle and back, in burn area. (1300' elevation gain)
15 miles: hike to Squirrel Meadow, in burn area (4300' elevation gain).
Please make sure everyone in your carpool agrees where to turn around.

Hiking Safety Rules:

  1. If you are sick in any way, you must stay home. There is no cell service on this trail.
  2. Bring mask to protect your lungs from ash that will be disturbed by hiking.
