Here is little more about our Facilitator:
Jake has built a strong foundation of clinical experience assisting critically ill and injured persons as a Primary Care Paramedic. During this time he developed emergency response expertise, crisis management skills, and an increased capacity assisting those with concurrent disorders. His clinical practice as a paramedic combined with being an active harm reduction and mental health worker has promoted an open-minded, compassionate, trauma-informed approach to caring for clients and peers.
Along with counselling and consulting, he currently provides harm reduction, crisis intervention, social services and overdose response at two Supervised Consumption Sites in the City of Toronto and teaches accredited CPR, first-aid, Basic Life Support, and Mental Health First Aid courses as well.
Jake brings together his experience as a paramedic and harm reduction worker to educate the public about how to navigate pharmacology, avoid potential harms from substances, and how to recognize the need for further support or intervention during an adverse event. Jake has also used psychedelics in his own trauma healing to maintain resiliency as a first responder.
