"Gozan no Okuribi" is one of Kyoto’s most iconic summer rituals, held annually on the evening of August 16th.
During the Obon season, it is believed that the spirits of deceased ancestors return to this world to visit their families.
As Obon comes to an end, five giant bonfires are lit on the mountains surrounding Kyoto to guide these spirits safely back to the afterlife.
The fires take the shape of three kanji characters (大 meaning "large", 妙 and 法 meaning "wondrous dharma"), a ship, and a shinto shrine gate (torii).
The bonfires are lit sequentially from 8:00 PM on August 16th every year, making it a world-famous viewing event.Funaokayama Park (Kenkun Shrine) is a valuable hilltop spot in the city where you can see multiple bonfires at once.
Located on a small hill about 112 meters above sea level with few obstructions, it offers an open view.Therefore, it is highly popular for people who want to take photos or enjoy seeing various characters from a single location. Of course, admission is free.

「五山送り火」とは、毎年8月16日の夜に開催される、京都で最も象徴的な夏の儀式の一つです。
お盆の期間中、亡くなった先祖の霊が家族を訪ねるためにこの世に戻ってくると信じられています。
お盆の終わりを告げるように、京都を囲む5つの山に巨大なかがり火が灯され、これらの霊が迷わずあの世へ戻れるよう案内します。
火の形は、3つの漢字（「大」、「妙」、「法」）と、船、そして神社の鳥居の形をしています。
毎年、8月16日の20時から順次、点火されて、世界でも有名な鑑賞イベントとなってます。
「船岡山公園（建勲神社）」は、複数の送り火を一度に見渡せる市内の貴重な高台スポットです。周囲に遮るものが少ない小高い丘（標高約112m）になっているため、視界が開けており、特に写真撮影をしたい方や、1ヶ所でたくさんの文字を楽しみたい方に非常に人気があります。
もちろん、無料で見れます。

ボードゲームはお好きですか？千本今出川のカフェで、19時までボードゲームを楽しみながら、その後、皆で、船岡山公園の会場に向かいます。
楽しいグループで両方を体験できるチャンスです。小さなカフェに集合してゲームをしたり、お互いのことを知ったりして言語交流しましょう！その後は焚き火イベント会場まで歩いて行き、景色を楽しみます。お時間のある方はぜひご参加ください！
