Semantic Search, RAG, and What Comes Next With Pinecone

For the early September LA DevOps meetup we will have two interesting presentations.

Gavin Johnson from Pinecone will be making the first presentation. He will be covering the combination of Multimodal RAG and Pinecone Nexus (with Context Precompiling) that represents a major architectural pivot in retrieval systems.

Alex Owen who hosts the Claude Code LA and MLOps meetups will present the second talk, details TBA.

Title: Semantic Search, RAG, and What Comes Next With Pinecone

Description:
The demo will start with how quickly one can get up and running on Pinecone Database: create an account, grab an API key, create an index, and run the first query. Then Gavin will demonstrate a small sample app to show what the database actually enables. Finally there will be an introduction and demonstration to Pinecone Nexus, the knowledge engine for agents.

About Gavin:
Gavin Johnson leads product marketing at Pinecone. He has a CS degree and started his career as a developer and sys admin before moving into tech consulting at Deloitte. Since 2018, he's been a product marketer at developer tools and cloud infrastructure companies, including Pulumi, Earthly, Twilio Segment, and New Relic.

About O'Brien's Pub on Wilshire:
The covered patio at Obrien's Pub has been a great place to host LA DevOps meetups for our post covid revival. The food and drink are great and the staff are very friendly. O'brien's is also the LA home of Manchester United Football Club Supporters.

You may want to bring a jacket for the cooler months.

Regarding parking, there are meters on Wilshire and the side streets that expire at 6.
