If you are looking for a friendly, informal, and low-key book club for ladies, you've found the right place! Join us to build a community and friendships!
How the book club works (updated 11-13-23):
1. Starting 2024, we alternate every other month between fun activities and book discussions - will read 6 books together for the year, of which 2 will be nonfiction.
2. Meeting locations are generally in the Tri-Valley area, including Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon and Danville.
3. Book discussions are generally on the second Sunday of the month from 2:00 - 5:00 PM.
4. Book selection process: at each book discussion meeting 4 names are randomly picked and thereafter, 4 books are posted for all members to vote. The winning book is the book with the most votes!
5. Reading the book is NOT a requirement to join the fun. It's common for ladies to join just to catch-up with one another, but please be prepared for spoilers.
6. At each meet, we always do a round-robin where we each share with anything we'd like to share i.e., what's been going on in our lives, what's been occupying our thoughts, etc.
Book Discussion Guidelines:
1. Book discussion is for the purposes of furthering and enriching our exploration and understanding of the book and the author from the lenses of our personal experiences and beliefs. And all beliefs and perspectives are welcome.
2. To that end, the objective is to share our thoughts and to thoughtfully listen and learn of others'. Note that it's not a debate. Personal attacks, insults, and/or expressing contempt/disgust for differences of views are not welcome.
3. If you need to leave early, please say that you need to leave early, but please do not rush the book discussion to an ending because you need to leave.
4. If by chance a faux pas is committed (which I have a tendency of because I am still growing & maturing) -- please do your best to clean it up, if not there immediately, then by sending messages to members.
5. Definition of a successful meet -- is if everyone in the group laughs really loud!!! Let's have fun ladies!
