🌊 Sintra Hike - Roman Bridge - Magoito Beach (13km/350m)
1245 Bus Stop - Portela de Sintra, Sintra, PT## Details
**This group is for women who live in the Lisbon metro area**
Hike Description:
We'll start in the small town of São João das Lampas and hike through the countyside of north Sintra. We'll stop at the Roman road and bridge in Catribana, which date to the 3rd century AD! We'll continue out to the coast at Praia de Samarra and enjoy the second half of the hike along the seaside cliffs, ending at Magoito Beach.This hike is about 13km long with 350m of elevation. There aren't any big hills, but there are some ups and downs on the coast.
Wear shoes with a good grip, bring at least 1.5L water, and snacks/lunch. There isn't anywhere to stop for food/drinks until the end of the hike, where there are 2 cafes/restaurants at Magoito. There is no shade for most of the hike.
Meeting Time & Place:
Bus stop for 1245 bus on the north side of Portela de Sintra station (here). We'll take the 1245 bus to Catribana leaving at 10:30AM and get off at this stop.I'll be taking the Sintra train that leaves Lisboa - Oriente at 9:38AM, arriving in Portela at 10:22AM. To get to the bus stop, you just need to cross under the tracks - exit the pay gates in the middle of the platform to find the stairs down.
If you're coming by car, you can either park at Portela and take the bus with us or park in São João das Lampas and get a rideshare back from Magoito at the end. Let me know if this is the case so I can give you an exact meeting time.
To return, there are 1-2 buses back to Portela from Magoito every hour. All transportation is included in the 40€ Navegante pass.
