Perfectly aligned with “vintage” charm with optional Part 2: The Pasadena Heritage “Bridge Party”. See separate post.
Little Beast is located on Colorado Blvd; an easy 5 min drive to the Bridge Party. I’ve seen Little Beast highly reviewed numerous times on multiple restaurant critic sites for the great food and cozy bungalow ambiance. I decided to scout it out first, as I often do with other venues I haven’t been to. Venues need to meet my expectations before I share them with you. It’s everything I read about. It’s a charming little Craftsman bungalow with a cute patio vibe! See photos.
We will be dining outdoors, and partaking in an ice-breaker conversation activity. Perfect for our evening fun!!

There’s something intrinsically charming about eating dinner in a craftsman bungalow, which is why you’ll often find Little Beast on date night. This neighborhood bistro is one of the most popular restaurants in Eagle Rock, with a menu of solid dishes like salmon belly mousse and sweet corn risotto, and a warm and cozy atmosphere where sparks can’t help but fly.
There’s a wrap-around front porch for watching the sunset over the hills, an interior filled with nooks and crannies, and a string-lit back patio that feels like you’re hanging out in a friend's backyard.
Monique and Paul are chef owners of Little Beast. It’s one of several eateries with charming and historical roots that the couple has strived to honor while showcasing their inherent and distinct culinary flair. They also own Cindy’s Diner in Eagle Rock and Fox’s in Altadena. They also owned Firefly Bistro in South Pasadena:
Monique, a Los Angeles native, began her culinary career with Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken at City Restaurant on La Brea Blvd. She later moved to Chicago where she worked as a chef at the renowned Soul Kitchen restaurant.
Paul is from Louisville, Kentucky, and began working in restaurants at fifteen years old. When he was eighteen, Paul moved to Colorado to work at the Silverheels restaurant in Silverthorne. He graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and eventually relocated to Austin, Texas where he worked in highly revered restaurants, including the Coyote Cafe.
As a couple, Monique and Paul relocated to L.A. Monique went to work for Feniger and Milliken as the chef of the Border Grill in Santa Monica & DTLA. Paul became the chef at Bayou Bar & Grill in Alhambra. Eventually, they opened several restaurants together.
