Forest Bathing - O'Neill Regional Park
Details
FOREST BATHING:
Join us for a gentle and nourishing experience in nature. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, forest bathing is a slow, mindful immersion in nature that supports stress reduction, calming the nervous system, a deep sense of grounding and inner clarity. Through gentle invitations, we'll tune into our bodies and senses, allowing space for reflection, insight, inspiration, and restoration.
We'll alternate between brief periods of sitting quietly and walking slowly and mindfully. The walk will cover approximately 1-2 miles and includes the Twisted Tire Trail with about 59 feet of elevation gain. The rest of the trails will be flat. The terrain can be uneven in places, so hiking shoes with non-slip soles are recommended; hiking poles are welcome for extra support. Portions of the experience involve sitting on the ground, so feel free to bring a camping or stadium chair.
Our forest bathing walk will end with a tea ceremony offering a moment of integration and reflection. Please let me know in advance if you have any allergies or physical needs I should be aware of, so I can best support your experience.
WHEN TO MEET: Please plan to arrive by 9:20AM. We start promptly at 9:30AM. If you are late, please catch up with us by walking towards the "Twisted Tire" trail.
WHERE TO MEET: We will meet at the park entrance of O’Neill Regional Park--located at 30892 Trabuco Canyon Road, Trabuco Canyon; CA 92678. There is a $5 day use fee per car. Once you go through the gate continue straight for a very short distance, then make a right into the parking lot. We will meet in front of the bathrooms. 🙂🌳
WHAT TO BRING: Long hiking pants or long leggings, so legs are fully covered due to Poison Oak and insects. Sturdy, close-toe trail hiking shoes/boots with non-slip traction soles and hiking poles for those needing extra support. Water, layered clothing, hat and sunscreen. The weather forcast calls for partly cloudy skies and a high of 74 degrees.
FEE: Fee for the event is $20 and a portion of that will be donated to an organization that supports nature such as the Sierra Club. You can pay via Venmo @Donna-McCullough-5, Zelle (949.246.7724) or cash at the time of the event.
NATURE TRAIL PRECAUTIONS: This experience takes place in a natural wilderness area. Participants as asked to remain aware of uneven terrain, loose rocks, native plants (including poison oak and prickly vegetation), insects such as ticks, and local wildlife, including mountain lions and rattlesnakes. Our slow pace and attentive approach support safety and ease.
I look forward to sharing this time in nature with you.
