What we're about
Meet other local LGBT professionals and expand your network!
Make new contacts. Find new clients or customers. Hire a new employee. Find a job. Make new friends!
This will be a space for friendly and outgoing LGBT people from all walks of life, occupations, and backgrounds to come together and expand their network! Events will be relaxed and have a no attitude vibe to ensure a professional and inclusive environment. In other words, people should be happy to look you in the eye, walk over, and talk to you. We encourage you to do the same.
Ideally two networking events will take place every month around in LA and maybe one social event as well. For now, we'll start off with once a month and as the group grows we can continue to add more dates. The first event will take place in the 2nd Week of March 2014 and will have light refreshments! Attendance will range from about 25 - 35 people for our first meeting since I will be hosting in my Condo (as the event grows and maybe we acquire sponsorship we can move to a bigger venue). Come join us and make some new friends and professional contacts!
If you RSVP that you're attending, please be sure to attend. If your plans change and you can't go, kindly update your RSVP. The event might generate a waiting list since it's a small venue, so if you RSVP that you're going and then don't show up, you're taking a spot away from someone who might really want to be there. Please be considerate of other members.
Our first event will work through a suggested donation of $5 (to cover food/drinks costs) and from there it will eventually be a small fee to help cover costs, especially as the event hopefully grows. Limited parking/valet will be available but be mindful of the environment, so carpool or use a Lyft ($25 coupon: http://www.lyft.com/invite/rj175) or split a ride on Uber ($20 coupon: uber.com/invite/qfck1).
Please do NOT announce our events on social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. Feel free to talk about the group there, but we prefer that interested people join the MeetUp group first since it's RSVP only (and admittance at the door will likely not be possible).
This group was created after a very successful meetup group in Boston http://www.meetup.com/Boston-Gay-Professionals/ )... why shouldn't LA have it's own? SO SPREAD THE WORD!
