About us

Hi, I'm Ian, owner of a small local guiding business, Land & Legend Trails.

I'm a qualified Lowland Leader, National Tour Guide and Leave No Trace Trainer with a passion for the outdoors, local history and discovering the stories hidden within the landscape.

I created this group for people who enjoy getting outdoors and exploring places that are a little different. While we'll certainly visit some well-known locations, many of our walks will focus on hidden corners, lesser-known trails, quiet places away from the crowds, and experiencing familiar places in a new way.

Coastal walks, woodland trails, hill walks, evening adventures, sunset hikes and the occasional "after hours" experience. Along the way, we can share local history, folklore, geology, wildlife and the stories that make a place special.

The focus is not on speed, fitness records or ticking off summits. It's about enjoying the journey, meeting like-minded people, learning something new and spending time outdoors in good company.

Whether you come along on your own or with friends, you'll find a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with no pressure and no cliques.

Glendalough After Hours

This is a really special walk.

Idea is to experience Glendalough in a quieter and more atmospheric way as the crowds have gone home and the valley becomes silent.

Route will be along waymarked trails with a reasonably steep climb up to the Spinc. On our return we will stop off at the Monastic City for a tour likely having the place to ourselves.

En route we will explore the nature and geography of the valley and delve into it's monastic and industrial past.

This is a free and small group event.

Time: 3 hours max.
Difficulty: Easy pace, but there is a steep climb on paths, stone steps and boardwalk.
