- Language Hike (intermediate): Burgruine LichtensteinNeeds location
Practice languages and make friends with us on a walk among the hills north of Pommelsbrunn, under the majestic beech canopy, featuring the overgrown remains of Lichtenstein castle ruin, and the hidden Fisher's Cave.
NOTE: This is an INTERMEDIATE hike, because it includes some longer uphill passages. You should have a base level of stamina, and bring appropriate shoes and clothing.
(Optional) We have a WhatsApp Group for this and future events. Please PM us or ask in person for an invite link.
Meeting Point:
- Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof, platform 3B, at 11:30 AM.
- We'll catch the S2 to Pommelsbrunn at 11:43.
- You can join us at Bahnhof Pommelsbrunn around 12:21 if that's more convenient for you.
- Look out for the red "Language Hikes" basecap.
Route: https://out.ac/IZPmKH
Languages: At least one speaker of German (native), English, Spanish, Italian, and Russian; usually also Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, and many more.
Preparation:
- If you're joining us at Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof, make sure you have a valid ticket to Pommelsbrunn and back (6 fare zones, or Deutschlandticket).
- Dress appropriately for the weather and bring watertight hiking shoes in case of muddy ground.
- Prepare for rain if necessary. In case we do expect rain, it will usually be announced on WhatsApp the morning before the hike.
Food: In the spirit of keeping the meetup affordable for everyone, please bring your own snacks.
Bad Weather: The hike will proceed in bad weather—just make sure to bring a raincoat and suitable footwear. In severe cases, we will decide what to do spontaneously onsite. If you'd rather not hike in the rain, it's totally fine to un-RSVP at the last minute, or leave early.
