Language Exchange Picnic in Prospect Park!

Practice a language you are learning with native speakers & other learners while SHARING food and enjoying the beautiful weather! All levels are welcome!

Practice your Arabic, Portuguese, French, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German, English or Spanish.

We all MUST bring something to share, that is the whole idea of a picnic to share! If you dont want to bring something to share, please wait for a different event.

We will split off into small groups by language and spread out into conversational language groups, feel free to come and go between groups.

We will meet by the bench areas behind the monument with a MEETUP SIGN from 4:00-4:30 PM. We will post a map of our location in the event photos in case you want to join later! (But it will be hard to find us so try to be on time.)

If you would like to attend, you AGREE to bring either:

a) FOOD (would be great if relevant to your language/culture but not necessary)!
b) DRINKS with plenty of disposable cups!
c) SUPPLIES, paper plates, napkins, forks (& knives, spoons) trash bags!

This is to share with other 3 people at least, (1 open package of cookies and 1 old banana is TOTALLY NOT OK!).

$1 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
$2 after 5 p.m.
Please bring the exact cash for fast check-in! :)

If you do not bring something to share you will be marked as a "no show" (We remove members after 3 no shows)

There are a few grocery stores around the area where you can buy something on your way to the event.

You can either make or buy something but whatever you bring should be able to be shared with your language group. GUYS especially, you should spend at least $5 on something! It is definitely not enough to bring 1 banana or 1 small open package of cookies!

We will be sitting on the grass. Bring a sheet to sit on & proper attire, the forecast says 80+! In the event it suddenly rains, we will post on the event feed a new location and update all.

EVENT RULES:

1. Please CHECK-IN with us once inside the park for a name tag! We all must wear a nametag during the event.

2. Spend at least 25% of your time HELPING out in your native language! That way we all help each other, you meet people interested in your culture and you make new friends!

3. Please CLEAN UP after yourselves! (coffee cups, papers, etc) Members who don't will be removed from our group!

4. A fee will be charged, $1 before 5 p.m., $2 after. To cover group costs.

5. If you bring nothing to share you will be marked as a "no show" (We remove members after 3 no shows)

6. If you can't come to the event please update your RSVP status before it starts, so other members have the opportunity to take your spot. (Members that RSVP yes and don't show 3 times will be removed from the group)

7. This is NOT a dating group, there are a bunch of those in NYC, we are a cultural group and you should be able to speak with guys, girls, old, young for the purpose of cultural exchange.
   *We remove people who break our rules or disturb other members.
