19.30 - 20.15 Refactoring by Christoph Rumpel
Christoph Rumpel is a web developer from Vienna. Since 2018 Christoph is operating on his own as a freelancer, consultant, and teacher. Next, to his first ebook about building chatbots in PHP, he is also the author of Laravel Core Adventures and the Mastering PhpStorm video course.
In his talk he will bring our attention to refactoring. Refactoring is the process of modifying and restructuring code without changing its functionality. Most developers now think of old legacy applications and the process of upgrading them to current coding standards. That's refactoring too, but it is so much more.
Refactoring is a skill that you can integrate into your daily coding workflow. It lets you focus on making your code work before you can adapt it to your needs.
This talk is for every developer who wants to write better code. Christoph will show you how to make refactoring a new skill of your own and how it benefits your whole coding workflow.

20.30 - 21.15 Fantastic Functions and Where to Find Them by Freek van der Herten
Freek Van der Herten is a developer and partner at Spatie, an Antwerp based company that specializes in creating Laravel apps. The company has an open source first mentality and has released many Laravel, PHP and JavaScript packages.
In Freek's talk he will discuss PHP, which, according to him, is a truly amazing language. You probably use PHP to create beautiful websites and services in an expressive way. But the language is capable of so much more than what you'll probably program in your day to day job.
In this entertaining talk, we'll take a look a couple of surprising ways to use PHP. You'll see lesser known functionality being used such as weak maps and process control functions. We'll also cover a couple amazing open source PHP projects that have borrowed inspiration from communities outside of PHP such as Tailwind and Phoenix.
After this talk you'll be even more convinced how truly flexible PHP. You'll also have learned a couple of functions and packages that you can use in your next project.
