About us
This is a group for people who have studied the Latin language and are interested in working together to read classic texts written in Latin. You don't have to be an expert, but we are looking to make our way through original texts, albeit in student versions with footnotes and glossaries. Our first readings will be student editions of selections from Ovid.

Seneca's Epistulae - #1

This time we will be switching things up from our usual diet of Ovid and trying out some prose in the form of Seneca's Epistulae Morales (we will get back to Ovid eventually, though!). We will read Seneca's first epistle to Lucilius from the Epistulae Morales ad Lucilium. I personally will be reading it in the edition created by Geoffrey Steadman (available here both as a free PDF online or to physically purchase), but feel free to read it in any other edition you prefer, such as The Latin Library or The Perseus Project. The text is pretty short, and hopefully won't be TOO difficult.
We will meet on Saturday, June 13, at 3:00 PM in the main lobby/coffee shop area of the Brooklyn Central Library at Grand Army Plaza.
