This will be the new site of the Thomas Arts Festival...an art auction, benefit and music, and performing arts event created to assist those rebuilding their lives as a result of the Thomas fires and flood. It's easy to continue our lives and move on - the shock and terror of the Thomas fire and subsequent flood is out of the news and in the past...BUT for many, it's a daily nightmare and many are suffering from PTSD. Can you imagine being an artist whose entire life's work was lost in this fire? They are people like you and me who thought they lived in a safe environment. Two of the individuals, both artists, lost their homes and everything they have and they are volunteers!
This event, started by a couple of individuals who felt the pull on their hearts to do SOMETHING! So why not join them in doing SOMETHING! Come and support the Thomas Art Festival! The Thomas Arts Festival is created to go beyond the idea of a one-time fundraiser, and instead will become a community-raiser and source of connections. Through financial contributions, donated art being auctioned, and local sponsors, we are raising funds for those who are struggling to get their lives, families, and creativity back on track, with a hope to have a lasting impact on the lives of many, especially those who may not qualify for traditional assistance.
Stephen, your assistant organizer, will be performing strolling magic, with a number of his colleagues from the Magic Castle. Sharon C., one of our members is gathering gifts cards and donations, so if you have something to give, please contact her. Spread the word to your meet up friends and non meet up friends to help support this amazing event.
Our first Festival is being held in the heart of the Ventura Art community at the Ventura School District Offices. Located in West Ventura, the location is accessible from Ventura, Santa Barbara, Ojai and Los Angeles. This event will showcase the creative work of local and surrounding artists, and introduce working artists to members of the community where relationships of mutual support for the arts in our community can form beyond this event. There are four ways to help:
- FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: We are collecting financial donations to distribute directly to families in the community who have no other recourse or relief. 100% of these tax exempt donations will be donated directly to families and the rebuilding of our community. https://theartistsoutlet.nm-secure.com/ online-giving
- ART: Artists are asked to donate art for the auction. Artists need not be affiliated with the Bell Arts Factory to make a donation of art pieces.
- SPONSORSHIP: Event sponsors are needed in the areas of financial contributions. Or, gift cards that can be auctioned or raffled to attendees, with funds then going directly to those in need.
- ATTEND & SUPPORT: We invite you to attend this event, and buy beautiful works from local and surrounding artists.
- SPREAD THE WORD: Invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers!
If you want more info - PM me (Stephen L.) if you want to donate, volunteer or know individuals in need! Make a difference! Do SOMETHING and join your fellow meet up members at this fantastic event! It’s fun, it's rewarding, it's amazing!
