Let's get out of the heat and go hiking up in the mountains where it's cool! On the north side of Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains lies 2 summits, Dawson Peak and Pine Mountain. They provide beautiful views of Mount Baldy's steep north face. We will hike in from Guffy Campground on the Blue Ridge Road. We meet up on Angeles Crest Highway at Blue Ridge Road at 8:00 AM and will condense vehicles and then caravan down to the campground. It is a slow 6 mile drive on a gravel road and a high clearance vehicle is recommended. I'll be driving in my Acura SUV with all wheel drive.
The Blue Ridge Road is just a few miles west of Wrightwood (very near Snow Summit ski area) on Angeles Crest Highway. The turn off is marked with notifications for the Pacific Crest Trail which crosses the Angeles Crest Highway at this point. There is parking on both sides of the road and a restroom on the north side.
I can be reached by cell or text at 310-977-1682 but there are big areas of no reception along Angeles Crest Highway so best to text me early on Monday morning if you want to reach me.
