Tired of the usual Saturday night? Let's trade the screen-glow for moon-glow! Join us for a wonderfully lazy evening under the stars in Fog Lane Park, connecting with good company and the cosmos.
This isn't your typical Saturday night in the park; it's a chance to nurture your sense of wonder and connect with like-minded folk in true Lazy Health Club style!
We'll gather on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM in Fog Lane Park. Our celestial guest of honour will be a stunning 86% Waxing Gibbous Moon, big and bright (🤞) in the evening sky, offering us a beautiful spectacle.
What to Expect:
- Relaxed Moon Gazing: I'll bring a pair of binoculars and two telescopes for us to get a closer look at the lunar landscape. Feel absolutely free to bring your own binoculars, telescopes, or cameras if you have them but no expertise or fancy equipment is needed – just your curiosity.
- Cosmic & Earthly Chats: The main focus is on enjoying a social evening together. We'll have the moon as our backdrop for conversations that might wander from its craters and seas to our place in the universe, gratitude for the everyday, and anything else that sparks our interest.
- A Touch of Atmosphere: I'll have a moon viewing chart handy to help us identify some features. There might be some gentle, classy background music and perhaps a few moon-related poems or quotes shared if the mood takes us...
- Wonder & Connection: The aim is simple – to share a moment of collective awe, appreciate the beauty around us, and connect with friendly people.
Making it a Comfy & Lazy Evening (What to Bring):
- Warm Layers: It's June, but it will get chilly after sunset (9:35 PM). Dress in warm, comfortable clothing. Hand warmers might be a good shout too.
- Something to Sit On: While a blanket will be available, bringing a folding chair is highly advisable for comfort.
- Torch: Useful to have in a dark park after sunset. If you have a torch with a red light function, that's fantastic as it helps preserve our night vision for moon gazing!
- Refreshments & Snacks: Feel free to bring your own drinks (a beer or glass of wine is perfectly fine, though it's not a boozy party) and any snacks you fancy. A warm drink in a flask is always a good idea.
- Your Gear: As mentioned, if you have binoculars, a camera, or a telescope, do bring them along!
