About the Event:
Have you wanted to code in JavaScript but don’t know where to start? Do you manage developers who use JavaScript and you want to understand the language better?
In this talk, Eve Porcello will use the ‘periodic table of JavaScript’ to show you all of the elements that you’ll need to develop powerful JavaScript applications. Starting from the basic types, we’ll take a closer look at how JavaScript works in the browser. We'll then look at where JavaScript is heading by touching on server-side JavaScript and what’s new in ES6.

What You'll Learn:
The basics of programming, including:
- How JavaScript fits into the landscape of front-end languages
- How JavaScript works in the browser
- How JavaScript frameworks work
Prerequisites:
Beginner, no prior JavaScript knowledge needed

We will be working on hands-on activities, so bring your computer!

Eve is a developer and trainer based in Northern California. She works with Moon Highway to design and deliver hands-on engineering training classes at places like Stanford University, ebay, and Yahoo. You can check out her courses on Lynda.com: Learn React.js and Up and Running with ECMAScript 6. She is also co-writing Learning React, an O’Reilly Media book due out in September 2016.
