Join us for free, face-to-face learning sessions as we practice speaking Finnish in pairs using Finnish-English books.
This group is perfect for learners who thrive in a collaborative and interactive environment. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your fluency, you're welcome to join us.
We will be using the book Finnish for Foreigners 1 by Maija-Hellikki Aaltio. Please get a copy for yourself if possible, or borrow one from the library. We will try to have a few extra copies available for those who don’t have the book.
Moreover, you are free to discuss and agree with your pair and practice Finnish through engaging activities such as picture games, flashcards, watching videos, and focused exercises that highlight one topic per class. For these different activities, you need to bring materials yourself.
Meetups will often be held in person at the Helsinki Central Library Oodi.

We invite you to a free, in-person learning session designed to help you practice Finnish speaking in pairs, using bilingual Finnish-English books.
This session is ideal for learners who benefit from a collaborative and interactive environment. Whether you are a beginner or aiming to enhance your fluency, you are warmly welcome to participate.
We practice mainly speaking using the book Finnish for Foreigners 1 by Maija-Hellikki Aaltio. If possible, please bring your own copy or borrow one from the library. A limited number of extra copies will be available for those who don’t have the book; hence, you are welcome to join without the book.
If you are a beginner in Finnish, you can check the Finnish and English texts side by side in the book. If you are an advanced learner, you can look only at the English part and try to say it in Finnish without looking at the Finnish text.
