About us
Freedom begins when someone is truly seen.
Leaving the Jar is a nonprofit fighting human trafficking through three pillars: prevention, intervention, and restoration. We educate communities to recognize exploitation before it happens, step in with scholarships and mentorship for the vulnerable, and walk alongside survivors as they rebuild their futures with dignity.
This group is for people in the DC–Maryland–Virginia area who want to move from awareness to action, no prior experience needed. Community members, professionals, and students are all welcome.
What we do together:
Awareness workshops — learn to recognize trafficking hidden in plain sight
Fundraising and community events, from elegant evenings to local gatherings
Volunteer opportunities supporting prevention education and survivor restoration
Our work spans the U.S., Egypt, Kenya, and Zambia, including the Well of Hope Home, where survivors find safety, skills, and community.
Join us, bring a friend, and be part of a community that acts.
