Hi everyone, It seems people like wandering around in the dark with a torch... 😊 I’m copying Rach’s idea... (Rach has put on a torchlit walk for Dec 30th at St. Aiden’s)... but as I know Eccup much better, I thought we could do a walk there as well... my walk is scheduled for Friday 4th Dec. Starting at 7pm. Hopefully, we’ll be out of lockdown by then 🤷♂️. The last event like this was fully booked and we received some great feedback, so let's go again! Full moon torchlight walk in a location where there is a BIG SKY, not much light pollution and some well-marked While it is one of the prettiest local walks, naturally we won't get to see much of it in the dark. However, if it is a clear night we should get a great view of the full moon, stars, and who knows, maybe some of the OWLS and other nocturnal creatures. Be sure to wrap up warmly!! Walking boots are a good idea but not essential. *Keep an eye on the weather, this event will be cancelled if it is raining* Meet on Alwoodley Lane, at the top of Goodrick Lane, which leads down to the reservoir. Parking available usually on Lakeland Drive. For now, I’m limiting places to 6 people.
The Tennis Courts at Roundhay Park
Informal & Friendly Social Tennis, for Adult Men & Women at Roundhay Park public tennis courts. Please note that COVID-19 Social Distancing rules apply for groups of up to 6 people. If more than 6 people sign-up then the participants must form and meet in separate and distinct groups so that no more than 6 people are in each group. Please observe the distance guidelines of 1 metre+. For players of a standard who can serve and hold a basic rally. Come along and join us!! It's appreciated if people can RSVP 'yes' if they think they will attend, rather than just turn up, as this encourages greater participation. This session may be 'hosted' - i.e. coordinated by a group member who will attend the session and help things run smoothly. Or, if the session is unhosted, please co-ordinate things by posting any helpful messages and confirmations, using the comments section at the bottom of this page. Where to find us Normally we play on court no. 8 (but not always). If other courts are needed, please book these via the ClubSpark booking system and let others know via the comments section, below. It's free to book a court. ClubSpark Booking System (https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/RoundhayParkTennisCourts/Booking/BookByDate) Format Normally we warm-up for 10 minutes or so and then break into games of singles and doubles, just as appropriate. Duration There's no fixed duration - stay for along as you wish! Weather If the weather is less than ideal, please decide for yourself whether to come along to the courts, especially if you have to travel far. If a session can't go ahead due to bad weather, we try and post a cancellation message on the meetup event page in good time before the start of the session but this isn't always possible. Equipment Please bring your own tennis racquet. It's helpful if people can bring a few extra tennis balls too. Contact If you have any questions or queries about these social tennis sessions, please use the comment form on this page or send the event host a message via the meetup messaging system.
