GREAT BRITAIN PILGRIMAGE

PLEASE RSVP AT THIS STAGE TO SHOW INTEREST

St Cuthbert's Way is an inspiring 100-kilometre (62 miles) trail between the Scottish Borders town of Melrose and Lindisfarne (Holy Island) off the coast of Northumberland, England.

The walk is named after Cuthbert, a 7th-century saint and a native of the Borders who spent his life in the service of the church. The route links Melrose Abbey, where Cuthbert began his religious life in 650 AD, with his burial place on Holy Island.

As we move from Scotland to England we enjoy stays in a variety of hotel, local pub and guest house accommodation of high quality with breakfast. This walk is interesting, varied and links with the Southern Upland Way, the Sir Walter Scott Way, the Borders Abbey Way and the Roman Heritage Way at Melrose, the Pennine Way at Yirk Yetholm and the St Oswald's Way at Lindisfarne all of which I hope to offer you over the next few years.

Also it is one of the Great Britain Pilgrimages and we recently have enjoyed the Peak Pilgrimage from Ilam to Eyam over 3 days.

Why walk a Pilgrimage?
A pilgrimage can be for various reasons; spiritual, an escape, finding an answer, for your holistic well being whilst being in the beauty of nature or simply a way to enjoy meeting new friends and visiting new places.

A pilgrimage is what you make it.
It is always a great idea to set your own private intention at the onset, perhaps dedicating your journey to an achievement, what you may want help with or for want you wish to give thanks.

Pilgrim Passport
Many pilgrimages encourage you to have a passport and get it stamped in various churches or cafes along the route with a small reward at the end. Of course the big reward is the achievement and the memory.

Also walking the Great Britain pilgrimages supports our local tourist economy, protects the environment and reduces flights ,helping to cut down on global warming.

NOTE; We walk on average 13 miles a day through woodland on coastal paths and hidden country trails but we enjoy a nice pace.

I’m very excited to be introducing into my Atlas Discovery the Great Britain Pilgrimage Tour agenda.
