This will be the first meetup of the group - an opportunity to meet some of the people interested in studying theoretical physics together and see what we can build from there.
The idea behind the group is fairly simple: rather than studying alone, we get together regularly, work through the mathematics and physics together, discuss things we find difficult or interesting, and gradually make our way through more advanced material.

This first meeting is mainly about getting to know each other and figuring out how we’d like to approach that.
We can talk about our backgrounds and what brought us back to physics, what topics we’re most interested in, and what we’d like to get out of the group. We can also discuss practical things like how often we want to meet, which books or resources to use, and where we should begin.

There’s no need to prepare anything for this first meetup. Whether you studied physics years ago, currently study something related, or simply have a strong mathematical background and want to learn more, the main thing is to come with an interest in actually working through the subject.
The longer-term aim is for this to become a regular, in-person study group around Utrecht and Amsterdam, where we can learn together and keep each other motivated. Hopefully, over time, it becomes a small community of people who enjoy taking difficult subjects seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

For the first meetup, the exact location will be decided once we have a better sense of interest. We’ll look for somewhere convenient and suitable for sitting down, talking, and eventually working through equations together.
For now, the goal is simply to get a few people in the same room, introduce ourselves, and see whether there’s enough interest to make this a regular thing.
