About us
The changing climate impacts us all. Yet we barely have a conversation about it in our daily lives. Other than, perhaps, talking about the weather with our neighbours.
This group will create a safe and non-judgmental environment to talk about the changing climate and planet and how it has already impacted our lives and those you know.
We intend to meet monthly - sometimes even weekly! Our chat will be themed around a topic - we will look into the impacts of climate change on our daily lives but also bring in experts to share knowledge, tools and emotional support on solutions we already have to address the climate crisis.
Our main goal is to create human connections regardless of who you are outside this group, reflect on our common or divergent experiences and views, and learn something new!
Anyone interested in better understanding climate change, biodiversity loss and their impacts on our daily lives are welcome. No specialist knowledge is required, and even if you are just curious about the topic, please join us. If you know a fair amount on the topic, please share it with us.
We invite everyone, including those with relevant expertise, to propose topics for our upcoming meet-ups. Thank you.

Screening: Hope! Estamos a tiempo (in Spanish)
Permaculture Barcelona Hub, Carrer de Zamora, 91-95, 4 - 3, Sant Martí, 08018 Barcelona, Barcelona, ESFeeling down about the state of the world today? Concerned about the worsening climate crisis, which seems to receive little political attention? We invite you to join us for a screening of the first episode of the six-part series Hope! Estamos a tiempo (Hope! We Are Still in Time), released by RTVE, Spain’s national public broadcaster.
Presented by environmental communicator Javier Peña, the series travels across 17 countries to highlight real, science-based solutions to the climate crisis—offering a more hopeful and action-oriented perspective on our future. It focuses on what is already working, showing that meaningful change is not only possible but already underway.

The series is available to everyone, but the real value lies in experiencing it together. We aim to create a space where we can gather, reflect on what we see and feel, and consider what we can take into our daily lives.

About The Permaculture Barcelona Hub
Launched by this event's co-host and permaculture educator Alfred Decker as a dedicated space where people can come together to learn permaculture design, experience urban ecology, connect with local activists and communities, and explore the deeper questions about where the international permaculture movement needs to go next. The Hub is not just another course venue. It is a meeting point — between the local and the global, between nature and the built environment, between traditional permaculture theory and emerging practices, between what permaculture has been and to where it can evolve.
The world is changing faster than our landscapes. To meet the challenges of tomorrow, we don't only need more gardens—we need a revolution in how we live, relate, and organize within our urban centres. The Hub will be a node in the network for developing a deep adaptation to the polycrisis we are living in.

Cli-Fi Book Club: TBD
Backstory English Bookshop, C/ de Mallorca, 330, Eixample, 08037, Barcelona, ESThe climate emergency requires more than facts alone. The transformation we need must be measured in greenhouse gas emissions averted and solar panels installed, but it is also an emotional transition, a shift in the narratives we tell, a reconnection with old wisdom and so much more. In short, it is perfectly suited for fiction.
If you are seeking such guidance, and if you want to be part of a community, we would love to have you join the Cli-Fi Club this month. Our selection for this month will be announced soon.
This event is free, but please get your copy from the wonderful English bookstore that hosts our book club meetings, Backstory. You can also buy a copy of the book from them online. To cover Meetup fees and other costs, we also encourage a €1 donation per attendee.
About the Cli-Fi Club
We read climate fiction — ie, cli-fi — of all types. Our focus is on works that grapple seriously and thoughtful with the emotions and meaning of this moment, what may lie ahead and what may already be lost. Our selections go well beyond the stereotypical conception of cli-fi — ie, science fiction and post-apocalyptic narratives — to include a range of works that engage creatively with humanity’s great challenge, and may even leave you inspired.About this community
Are you new to the meetup group Let’s Talk About Climate Change or our WhatsApp group Mobilizing Hope? We work to bring together English-speaking people in Barcelona and beyond for climate education and action, and also community. We welcome speakers of Catalan, Castellano and other languages, but most of our events are in English because most of our organizers and attendees are more comfortable in English than other languages. We created this group because we could not find any community like it. We range from degrowthers to startup founders, from artists to data scientists. We may not agree on everything, but we all want to move in the same direction. If you do too, you’re welcome to make it your home.1 attendee
