Let's Talk About God Series is a series of sessions designed to openly talk about God in the public square. We want to talk about God, talk to God and talk for God. We want to understand what that even means.
The group leader acknowledges the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of the Bible who says He is the God of the universe. God says that He is the one and only God and there is no other and He says that the Bible (the scriptures) are His word. This is not to say that there are no other “gods” when we understand that this term means “spirit beings”. This group is based on the understanding that there is a whole spirit/supernatural realm out there.
This group will try to clarify what the God of the Universe is saying in contrast to what other gods are saying so all of us, as free responsible individuals, can make a decision as to which god to believe or even whether there is a God or not.
All who have an interest in asking and discussing these questions is a good fit for this group. That includes theists, atheists or undecided-ists.
The group leader will keep discussion going by bringing up statements and facts about or by the God of the universe. He will try to bring us, not to a place of a settled argument; but at least to an understanding of the contrasts between what the God of the Universe says and what other gods say so everyone can make their own decisions what to believe.
The leader will try to foster an atmosphere coming from the understanding that, if the God of the Universe is real, He loves to be a part of the discussion too and to engage with people even with those who don't believe He exists or who don't even like Him. It's just how he rolls.
The leader will provide resources that participants can use for personal research.
We all know how complex and controversial this subject matter is and we acknowledge that we will not solve all the issues; but hey, we want to have fun talking about God. And He loves it when he hears us talking about Him ... for a lot of reasons!
