What we’re about

Like art & cultural events? Do you like film, music and dance? Fun? Is a museum your happy place? Then LTA could be for you.

This group’s primary goal 'began' with bringing together art enthusiasts to visit the great venues that Fort Worth has in its Modern Art, Kimbell, and the Amon Carter museums. They have exhibited leading active artists working around the world today and historic greats. As opportunities arise, we can take in festivals, art movies, and performances (music, art, dance). Some examples are the Kimbell and the Modern artist lectures and documentary films, the Day of the Dead Catrina Contest in Sundance Square, and Music on the Lawn at the Amon Carter.

We do visit Dallas, from time to time. We have previously been to the DMA for 2 tours of the Frida Kahlo show and 2 tours of the DMA's exhibition of their permanent collection of Impressionist work. We recently attended a modern ballet performance of 'Carmen' at the Moody Performance Center. And, we have visited the Nasher Sculpture Center.

This Meetup group is dedicated to exploring the world of fine art through day and night group trips to DFWs museums, galleries, and fine art events and occasional Zoom discussions about artists or exhibitions we cannot see in person. Whether you are an experienced art lover or a beginner wanting to learn more about art, this group can be for you. Join us for relaxing discussions and educational tours about art of different periods and styles. Make an art friend. Learn more about the local art scene.

I am Michael Gonzales, MFA. I am an art professor, an exhibiting fine art photographer, and an engineer. I have moved back to DFW after many years and want to know the local art scene, once again. I see things that I would want to experience and learn and make it an event. It might be a visit to a major museum, a non-profit art gallery, a modern dance performance, etc... As a group, we can discuss what you like about a work of art? Do you think the artwork is beautiful and why? Afterwards, we can grab a bite to eat someplace nearby and

Everyone is creative and can discuss creativity. Artist Joseph Beuys said, “Everyone is an artist.”
