About us
This is a group for anyone who likes to sit around with a cup of coffee and discuss a good book. This is intended to be a casual group, with people who enjoy reading and looking to meet new people. We're open to exploring all different genres of literature from fiction to non-fiction, classics to trashy novels and everything in between. We welcome all readers -- you'll need to read a few books and show up to an occasional discussion to stay a member though! Hope to see you soon!

Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng
Joan's Elkins Park Home, Near Elkins Park SEPTA Station, Elkins Park, PA, USIn April we'll discuss the Free Library of Philadelphia's 2026 selection for One Book One Philly: Our Missing Hearts, by celebrated author Celeste Ng.
Set in the near future, the novel is an eerily prescient dystopian tale about banned literature, silenced speech, and forced family separation. It also is a story about a 12-year-old boy of Chinese descent’s search for his poet mother whose work has been banned. As the novel opens, Noah receives a message from his mother and must decide whether to stay with his affable, bookish father or to take action. His journey and the arc of the novel explore the power of words, the power of story and the persistence of memory. NY Times bestselling author Celeste Ng describes her book as “a love letter to reading, to libraries, to stories and also to America." Our Missing Hearts was published in 2022, is 352 pages and is available in local libraries as well as online and in audio format. The Philadelphia Free Library's series of events surrounding Our MIssing Hearts runs from April 7th through May 28th. The events are free and open to the public. Join us in April!
