🕙 Meet at 10:00am at Mackenzies Flat Picnic AreaJoin us for a relaxed and social group hike through one of Victoria's most rugged and beautiful landscapes. The Lerderderg Gorge offers dramatic river valleys, ancient rock formations, and a rewarding trek surrounded by native bushland and towering cliffs.
This event is designed for people who enjoy getting outdoors, meeting new people, and challenging themselves at their own pace. Whether you’re a regular hiker or just getting started, you’re welcome to join.
This is an adult-only (18+) event. Unfortunately we're unable to accommodate pets, though registered assistance animals are welcome.
Walk Difficulty
This is considered a challenging walk due to the uneven terrain and river crossings. While the walk covers a solid distance, it can be physically demanding.- Approx. 8km loop
- Expect river crossings and uneven, rocky terrain
- Allow around 3–4 hours depending on pace
- Good fitness recommended
We’ll take breaks as needed and keep the group together.
Getting There
This walk is car access only — there's no public transport to Mackenzies Flat Picnic Area. Please allow approximately 1 hour to 1hr 15 mins driving from Melbourne CBD, depending on traffic and your starting point.Parking is available at the picnic area.
Carpooling is encouraged for those who'd like to share a ride — we'll share an optional WhatsApp group link closer to the date so attendees can coordinate lifts directly amongst themselves. Please note the carpool arrangements are between individuals, and Oot & Aboot isn't involved in organising specific rides. Joining is completely optional — your phone number may be visible to other members — and the group will be deleted 3 days after the event.
