What we’re about
This Meetup group is operated by Friends of Long Island Dog Parks (June 18, 2020), which does business as the Long Island Dog Owners Group (LI-DOG). Our goal is to socialize with other dog owners and organize fun things to do with our dogs including dog-friendly events and enjoying Long Island's beautiful dog-friendly parks and beaches!

🐾 Join Us for a LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Fire Island on Saturday, September 20th!
Grab your leash, non-retractable please, and your pup, and come stroll with us along the scenic Fire Island National Seashore! Our LI-DOG Pack Walks™ are fun, on-leash group outings where dogs and their humans can enjoy fresh air, great company, and some of Long Island’s prettiest views!
We’ll gather at the far eastern end of Parking Field 5 at Robert Moses State Park—look for the lighthouse in the distance! (Just a heads-up: pups aren’t allowed on the beach at Robert Moses, but we’ve got a great workaround.)
We’ll start by heading north and east along the grassy shoulder of the parkway, then follow a dirt road that runs just south of the lighthouse. You’ll get some postcard-worthy views of the lighthouse as we go!
From there, we’ll cross a pre-made path over the dunes to reach the ocean beach. You can choose a shorter walk (about 1.5 miles, 45 minutes) or go a bit further east toward Kismet for a longer stroll (closer to 2.5 miles). Either way, you’ll be soaking up sun, and sea breezes, with your happy pup while enjoying wide open views of sea, sand and sky.
Please be aware that dogs must remain leashed AT ALL TIMES on the Pack Walk. Make sure to bring poop bags--as clean-up is a must--and water for you and your dog. Also, please no retractable leashes as we’ll be walking as a group and people and dogs can get tangled.
Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in and we can start on time.

This is an important fundraising event for LI-DOG, so make sure to take a chance on winning one of the great raffle baskets generously donated by our sponsors: Bark Box, Brutus Bone Broth, Farmina Foods, Gourmet Gift Baskets, Pindar Vineyards among others. Plus thank you to Alan Meschkow, Gail Meschkow and Bailey Applebee Dog for their creative and much-appreciated individual donations!
LI-DOG would like to extend special thanks to Tito’s Vodka and The Refuge. Not only is Tito’s donating one of their popular raffle baskets to the event, but we want to thank them and The Refuge for including LI-DOG in the Tito’s x Refuge donation program for Long Island nonprofits. We are so grateful for their generous support!
