This Meetup group is operated by Friends of Long Island Dog Parks (June 18, 2020), which does business as the Long Island Dog Owners Group (LI-DOG). Our goal is to socialize with other dog owners and organize fun things to do with our dogs including dog-friendly events and enjoying Long Island's beautiful dog-friendly parks and beaches!

Starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 18th, please join us for our first LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Veteran's Memorial Park in Calverton, NY.
At 62 acres, this is Riverhead’s newest flagship park. Among the highlights at the park is the shady, one-acre Isaac Dog Park. The Riverhead park is also adjacent to the former 3,000-acre Grumman Naval aircraft assembly and testing site where you can still see the runways for flight testing jets.
On our LI-DOG Pack Walk™, we’ll be walking on mostly paved trails, which are part of the bike path, but we’ll also be walking on some of the dirt trails in the park, which are fairly wide and easy to follow. Our walk will cover about 2.5 miles and will take just over an hour.
As there are bikes on the paved path, it’ll be important to keep your dogs by your side when they are passing. Also, since we are walking through the woods and this is eastern Long Island, be sure to use tick preventive on yourself and your pup.
Dogs must be leashed at all times during our walk. It is especially important not to use retractable leashes on this Pack Walk™.
Also, don’t forget to bring water for your dog and yourself.Please make sure to arrive by 10:45 a.m., so we can start our Pack Walk promptly at 11 a.m.
