What we’re about

CryptoParty DFW is now LibreTechnica!
After months of planning and reflection, we're ready to revive the spirit of CryptoParty as a new org with an even greater mission.

We've reformed as LibreTechnica and we'll continue teaching audiences how to protect their digital privacy. Our scope now includes promoting open-source technologies that resist surveillance capitalism, censorship, and environmental harm.

Our Mission
LibreTechnica’s mission is to encourage others to learn and adopt technologies for the benefit of the commons. Some example of our activities are:

  • Teaching people how to protect their privacy with secure messaging apps and email services
  • Introducing computer users to the Linux operating system and other open-source software
  • Promoting sustainable technologies, practices, and policies
  • Helping small business and non-profit organizations implement free and open-source software for their infrastructure
  • Supporting the deployment of independent, community-based network infrastructure

This mission supports our vision where the people have full knowledge and control over whom their data serves. Through the democratization of technology, we will weaken the strongholds that corporations have on our data and our lives.

About the Open Technology Workshops
Our main activity to support our mission is the Open Technology Workshops, where we share knowledge about technologies developed for the benefit of the commons. Participants learn about free and open-source software, privacy-respecting online services, and tech sustainability. Presentations are followed by group discussions and hands-on experience with the technologies. No special technical skill is required to learn, but participants are encouraged to bring their laptops.
