Open Technology Workshop – Encrypted Email
Details
Meeting Details
January 21, 2026
Topic: Encrypted Email
Description: Email is one of the oldest applications of the Internet and it’s embedded into our identities and our business. Despite this, email is not inherently private. Email providers can scan your mailboxes for advertising and emails are known to be intercepted at scale. Fortunately, services like ProtonMail and Tuta make it easy to use end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) email. We’ll look into how these services can protect you and how you can use end-to-end encryption with your current email provider using OpenPGP. We will also at how easy it is to host your own email server with none of the limits of other providers.
Feel free to bring your laptops and we'll dive right in! If you've got some questions you'd like to talk about, put them in the Meetup comments below!
