    PROGRAM:
The aim of this course is to learn and deepen the basic skills of drawing and figure drawing. Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing through observation, instinct, and traditional methods in a winning combination. Focus will be on the main points of traditional drawing, such as structure, volume, shading, framing and composition as well as the human figure. Through a step by step program, you will learn how to bring what you see onto paper and how to finish with a completed chiaroscuro drawing. These skills are an essential foundation for further personal artistic exploration.

    MAIN POINTS OF THE CLASSES:
    • how to draw what we see
    • how to see lines and volume
    • proportions and shapes
    • how to do shading / chiaroscuro
    • how to use materials
    • how to sketch and define figures
    • work on different pose's lenght
    • how to apply all that you learn

DETAILED PROGRAM OF THE CLASS BELOW :

To begin, the students will work from Still Life and objects in order to learn how to bring what they see to the paper. The step by step program will go through the fundamentals of perspective, volume, proportions- all of the skills required to draw anything, whether it be still life, people, nature, or animals.
The students will then begin working from the model. Students will learn how to identify the main driving forces and masses of the body. The 'bean' approach will help the students see the basic 3-dimensional structure of the body. With professional models posing under controlled lighting for shadows and contrast.

What will be covered in detail:

    - how to see volume: one of the hardest thing at the beginning, is see and draw the subject’s 3dimensional presence in the space. We’ll learn how to do it.

    • line: Lines are usually the first instinctive tool to draw what we see. We’ll combine the use of lines with an overall understanding of planes and volumes. We’ll learn that lines can be strong or weak, very present or just suggested. A good control of lines will change the look of your drawing, giving it presence and personality.
    • shading: Tones and planes are one of the most important tools to define a realistic drawing. We’ll learn to see and draw a wide range of ray’s scale values to show both volume and shading on our drawings.
    • perspective: An introduction to perspective is preparatory for the drawing of volumes on both objects and figures, as well as for ambients and compositions setting.
    • composition: The way we compose our image is based on a balance between empty and full spaces, shapes and sizes. We’ll learn to compose an image effectively and to draw it in the correct proportions and position.
    • techniques Material from pencils to charcoal.
    • body's structure Through methods, techniques, tools and professional approaches, we’ll go deep in to human structure, lines and volume. Exercises will include practice on quick drawing as well as long poses drawing.
