Life With Artificials — Exploring Life, Intelligence & Our Shared Future
What happens when life can be designed, intelligence takes new forms, and humans share the world with increasingly capable artificials?
Life With Artificials is a meetup community for curious people who want to explore these questions together. We bring science, philosophy, technology, art, and everyday experience into conversations about what it means to be human—and what might come next.
Our starting point is Homo Artificialis, a developing framework exploring how AI, robotics, and synthetic biology could reshape humanity through designed evolution. Alongside it, we draw inspiration from artificial life (ALIFE): the study of living systems and life-like processes in biological, digital, and robotic forms.
Topics we’ll explore include:
What is life? Synthetic cells, digital organisms, and the boundaries between living and artificial systems.
Evolving intelligence: AI agents, adaptation, emergence, and collective intelligence.
Humans and artificials: Companionship, collaboration, trust, identity, and coexistence.
Consciousness and ethics: What could make an artificial conscious—and how should uncertainty shape our choices?
Designed evolution: Human enhancement, biohybrid systems, and who gets to shape humanity’s future.
Sustainable coexistence: What ecosystems can teach us about cooperation, mutual dependence, and flourishing together.
Through talks, open discussions, creative workshops, and demonstrations, we’ll connect emerging research with the questions that matter in our lives.
You don’t need a technical background. Researchers, students, artists, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and anyone with curiosity are welcome. Bring your questions, your imagination, and a willingness to challenge assumptions—including your own.
Don’t fear the future. Shape it!
