LxPC #7 — a Guided Tour of the Cemitério dos Prazeres (in English)
Details
Visiting a cemetery can be an interesting way to learn more about the culture and history of a country. The Cemetery of Prazeres (cemitério dos Prazeres) in Campo de Ourique was founded in 1833. It is one of the largest cemeteries in Lisboa, and the resting place of many famous Portuguese personalities.
The Câmara's department of cemeteries kindly agreed to organise a visit in English for us.
This discovery tour lasts 1,5 to 2 hours and will take place at the end of the afternoon. We'll learn about the history of the cemetery, the symbols used on graves, the architecture, the sculptures, and some of the famous figures who there reside — and we might hear a few strange stories.
Max 20 pers.
Please keep your RSVPs updated.
The visit is free but we might collect a small donation as a thank you for the guide.
