Green Mountain via Bear Canyon - from NCAR
Details
DIFFICULTY: about 12 to 13 miles with about 2500 to 2600 feet elevation gain.
We hike as a group at a moving pace of about 2.5 mph. Although the group may split up due to different hiking paces, everyone is expected to wait at all intersections, creek crossings & periodically otherwise so that we can regroup and so no one is left behind or hiking on their own for safety reasons.
**HIKE DESCRIPTION: Let’s hike to Green Mountain near Boulder. This is an out-and-back trail. We will start at NCAR and take the Bear Canyon Trail, then take the Green Bear Trail to the Green Mountain Ridge Trail, then to the top of Green Mountain. **DOGS: From what I can tell, dogs are allowed on leash. But please if you bring a dog, you need to check yourself to confirm dogs are allowed. Every trail in Boulder has a different dog rule. Here is a link to Boulders dog website: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/453953e79ff64148821c1187c8ab3edc/page/Dog-Regulations#zoom_to_selection=true**
Please be sure your dog is well behaved and can handle the length of the walk. Dog owners must clean up pet excrement.
**ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the NCAR Trailhead. When you pull into the parking area, park at the nearest part of the lot. The address is: 1850 Table Mesa Drive, Boulder, CO 80305. To get there, you can click on the following alltrails link and click directions (not the trail we’re doing but will get you to the trailhead): https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/ncar-and-mesa-trail-table-mountain-to-boulder-creek**
Or if you use Google maps, you can type in “NCAR Trail Head” for directions. In Apple Maps, you can type in “NCAR Trail” to get directions.
We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.
