Nugget Hill Hike
Details
BECAUSE PARKING AT THE TRAILHEAD IS VERY LIMITED, CARPOOLING IS REQUIRED FOR THIS HIKE. The only parking at the trailhead is a few spots along the road so I am keeping this hike small. Therefore PLEASE only sign up if you plan to attend. Right now the skies look clear for this hike. But if that changes, I will change the hike to something else as the hike won’t be worth it if we don’t have mountain views at the top.
NOTE THAT THIS IS A STEEP ROCKY HIKE. BUT THE PAYOFF AT THE SUMMIT IS AMAZING VIEWS. Hiking poles highly recommended for the down.
DIFFICULTY: about 5 miles with about 1,600 feet elevation gain.
**HIKE DESCRIPTION: Nugget Hill is a hidden gem of a hike close to Boulder, with fantastic summit views and an uncrowded trail. Last year around this time, the wildflowers were really nice. On a clear day the summit offers nearly 360-degree views over Boulder, the Flatirons, the Indian Peaks, and Rocky Mountain National Park, with minimal crowds. This hidden gem guides adventurers along rocky terrain weaving through ponderosa pine forests and meadowlands up to the stunning overlook at the summit. We will take a break at the summit before heading back down. See the following hike in Alltrails: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/nugget-hill-trail**
NO DOGS: Dogs not allowed on this hike due to the carpool.
ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will carpool to this hike as parking is limited at the trailhead. We will meet at 6:15 am at Fourmile Canyon Creek Trailhead. The address is 420 Lee Hill Dr, Boulder, CO 80304. If you use google maps or apple maps, you can type in “Fourmile Canyon Creek Trailhead” for directions.
For the drivers, to get to the trailhead, you can click on the alltrails link above and click directions. It’s about a 15 min drive to the trailhead from our meeting spot.
We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time.
