DESCRIPTION:
Learn about some of the wonders of our local watershed and waterways. Engage, focusing on the streams and lake inlets and long view over the water, in a beautiful setting, while in a relaxed, curious, and discovering way. Enjoy this relatively slow (up to 3 miles within 2 hours, with stops) natural history walk around a small part of the perimeter of beautiful Beaverdam Reservoir in the new NOVA park.

WHAT WE'LL DO:
We will cover up to 3 miles in less than 2 hours. The well-maintained trails (sometimes narrow) are relatively flat with dirt and leaves, some broad rocks (that can sometimes get slippery after rain), some small bumpy rocks, and sometimes, mulch. Introductions are at 9:45 and then we start walking at 10:00, with opportunities to stop, learn, question, and engage.

Bring lunch if you would like and throw a portable/camping chair in your car, if you have one. The guide will stay after the walk ends for anyone who would like to gather and eat their lunches together. Optional suggestions for the event: bring your charged up cell phone for taking photos and using nature apps, a notepad for jotting down ideas, a pad and pencils for quick sketches, binoculars, magnifying glass, etc.

Your Guide: Adrienne Betancourt is an educator (with a career in adult education and college.)
She completed the Maryland Natural Naturalist 60-hour course and has continued to study natural history, with experience leading programs and hikes for kids, families, and adults.

MEETING POINT: Meet at 9:45 AM at the Visitor's center for a short introduction. We start walking at 10 AM
