FREE outdoor concert: Jazz from Ian Carey & Friends
Details
Trumpeter, composer and arranger Ian Carey will be joined by a trio of local jazz heavyweights - pianist Adam Shulman, bassist Ollie Dudek, and drummer Bryan Bowman - for a set of standards, originals, and rarities.
COST: I request $1.00 donation from Meetup attendees to offset the $180.00 per year fee that Meetup charges me as head organizer. Other than that, this event is FREE.
LOCATION: This concert sponsored by Oaktown Jazz Workshops will take place on the music stage at the Jack London Square farmers' market.
WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Meet near the music stage by 12:30 p.m. (The concert is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. and go until 3:00 p.m.) Alternatively, folks may wish to arrive earlier to have more time to shop on their own at the farmers' market.

HOW TO FIND ME: I'm WF, about 5 feet tall, with glasses, and short, salt & pepper hair. I'll send my mobile number to RSVPers prior to the event. If I'm missing anyone when I get seated, I'll post a Comment on the Meetup Event Page saying where I'm located. PLEASE TEXT ME if you don't spot me.
IMPORTANT: Attendees need to bring their own low-backed chairs to sit on, since there is limited or no provided seating in the concert area.
WHAT ELSE TO BRING: It'd be a good idea to bring sun protection, water, and snacks for yourself.
TRANSPORTATION: Located on or near multiple AC Transit bus lines that run along Broadway. Most or all of the bus lines stop within one block of at least one of the BART stations located on Broadway (and also, I believe, close to some BART stations in the El Cerrito area). Check the AC Transit website to confirm routes, stops, and schedules. Coming from San Francisco? Consider taking the ferry!
PARKING: There are three paid garages within a couple blocks of the Farmers Market area (Market Garage, Washington Garage, and Broadway/Plank Garage). If parking on the street, note that street parking is metered in Oakland on Sundays now.
