Free show -->> Pianist Glen Pearson (and more)

Glen Pearson - music professor, renowned pianist, and member of the Grammy-winning Count Basie Orchestra - will perform an hourlong set as part of this long-running Sunday jazz series. He will be joined by Dave Ellis on saxophone, Kevin Goldberg on bass, and Miles Turk on Drums.

Their band will perform from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. They will be preceded by a youth group performing from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

COST: The show itself is free, but, as always, I welcome $1.00 donations from Meetup attendees to offset the $180.00 per year that Meetup charges me as head organizer.

WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: By 2:15 p.m. at the Oakland Library Golden Gate Branch at 5606 San Pablo Avenue. Meet in the seating area inside the downstairs auditorium. (NOTE: the library itself is closed on Sundays, which means the main doors on San Pablo are locked. Enter the auditorium via the exterior stairwell from the library's parking lot, located behind the library on 56th Street.)

HOW TO FIND ME: I'm WF, about 5 feet tall, with short, salt & pepper hair and glasses. (See my pic with my Meetup profile.) I'll send my mobile number to RSVPers before the event, and if I'm missing anyone when I get seated, I'll post a Comment on the Meetup Event Page with my location info.

TRANSIT: I believe the AC Transit bus line 72 stops at/near this library branch, with other stops including uptown Oakland (across from the 19th Street BART station) and the El Cerrito Plaza BART station. Check the AC Transit website for details. Note for drivers: I assume that parking is on the street.

PARKING: The library parking lot opens at 1:30 p.m.; the library advises concertgoers to arrive by 2:00 p.m. to increase their chances of finding a space in that nine-slot parking lot. There is also parking on the street. If aiming for the library's parking lot, enter the lot via 56th Street. There is an exterior stairwell from the parking lot to the downstairs auditorium.

DIRECTIONS: The Golden Gate Branch of the Oakland Library is located on San Pablo Ave at 56th St, just south of Stanford Avenue.
