Hal Richards Quintet
Details
I've been listening to members of this band online lately, and really enjoying their sound! This Friday's lineup will include the wonderful pianist Rumi Abe, whom some of us heard in an Oakland show earlier this month (and whom I'm eager to hear again!). The rest of the members of this terrific band are: Hal Richards, winds and reeds; Henry Hung, trumpet; Ron Belcher, bass; Dan Foltz, drums.

EVENT COST: $25 cover charge for the show, collected upon entry to the bookstore (no advance ticket sales). CASH only for the cover charge. In addition, if you haven't donated recently to offset the $180.00 per year that Meetup charges me as lead organizer, I welcome $1.00 donations from Meetup RSVPers (via cash, Venmo, or PayPal).
SEATING is general-admission, on folding chairs with cushions. (The musicians are on a slightly raised stage, providing decent sightlines.)
IMPORTANT: Concertgoers need to call Bird & Beckett at 415-586-3733 to request a seat for themselves. (You can mention that you're with Paula's Meetup group, but it's not necessary to do so.) After you have heard back from the store that you have a reservation, please let me know so that I have a good idea of how many Meetup attendees to expect.
WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Meet outside the bookstore no later than 7:00 p.m., when the doors are due to open, to increase our chances of getting seats together. Please allow extra time for transit or parking, since latecomers risk forfeiting their seats to other people in line. (The concert is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., and will likely go until 9:30 p,m.)
HOW TO FIND ME: See my photo with my Meetup profile. (I'm WF, about 5 feet tall, with glasses and short, salt-and-pepper hair.) I'll send my cellphone number to RSVPers before the show.
TRANSIT/PARKING: The bookstore is located less than two blocks from the Glen Park BART station and Muni bus lines (and about one block from two ATMs) in an attractive commercial/residential neighborhood. Parking is on the street.
NOTE: No pre-show dinner this time. Folks are free to bring their own drinks to the bookstore to enjoy before/during the show (but you cannot bring food in). There is an excellent grocery located in between BART and the bookstore if you want to pick up a beverage on your way.
