For this show, the terrific bassist Kurt Ribak (whom Meetup members have seen perform with various ensembles over the years) is joined by Lincoln Adler on saxophone and Scott Foster on guitar. Ribak's compositions signify his reach for what happens when “Charles Mingus meets The Meters, and they go to Duke Ellington’s house to jam, with Cachao and Thelonious Monk sitting in.”

EVENT COST: $20 cover charge for the show, collected upon entry to the bookstore (no advance ticket sales). CASH only for the cover charge. In addition, if you haven't donated recently to offset the $180.00 per year that Meetup charges me as lead organizer, I welcome $1.00 donations from Meetup RSVPers (via cash, Venmo, or PayPal).

SEATING is general-admission, on folding chairs with cushions. (The musicians are on a slightly raised stage, providing decent sightlines.)

IMPORTANT: Concertgoers need to call Bird & Beckett at 415-586-3733 to request a seat for themselves. (Mention that you're with Paula M.'s Meetup group, to increase our chances of getting seats together.)

After you have heard back from the store that you have a reservation, please let me know so that I have a good idea of how many Meetup attendees to expect.

WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Meet outside the bookstore no later than 7:00 p.m., when the doors are due to open. Please allow extra time for transit or parking, since latecomers risk forfeiting their seats to other people in line. (The concert is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., and will likely go until at least 9:30 p,m.)

HOW TO FIND ME: See my photo with my Meetup profile. (I'm WF, about 5 feet tall, with glasses and short, salt-and-pepper hair.) I'll send my cellphone number to RSVPers before the show.

TRANSIT/PARKING: The bookstore is located less than two blocks from the Glen Park BART station and Muni bus lines (and about one block from two ATMs) in an attractive commercial/residential neighborhood. Parking is on the street.
