The Ranch Ride
Details
This ride is an intermediate road/touring pace where both location and timing is designed to minimize exposure to traffic so that there is a little more room to chat and enjoy the scenery.
We meet at the BMX bike park, Then most likely turn right on Patterson Pass, U-turn on Arlene, then head out towards Cross by way of Patterson Pass with a slow but steady incline on the way. Turning right on Cross, there is a intimidating but short hill at the Foscalina Ranch and some gear shifting anticipation is necessary so as to prevent any embarrassment or possibly a fall. From there, there is a steady climb towards the next ranch on the left. Then, there is a downhill all the way to Tesla for some reprieve. Turning right on Tesla gets us to Greenville, where we turn right again and enjoy one moderate steady climb to the top, then descend on the backside of Livermore Lab to finally arrive at Patterson Pass again.
For me, the ride is about 50 minutes or so. When looking at my exercise monitor, I seem to burn somewhere in the area of 500+ calories with the active calories in the high 400s and my heart rate is moderate in zones three and four and sometimes zone five for a short time. It is between 10 and 11 miles total.
I like to ride safe, headlight, tail light, sideview mirror, etc., and it is expected for all those who attend to have good safety practices as I cannot be responsible for breakage or accidents or injuries
Currently, there’s rain at the time of creating this, but Saturday seems to have a break in the weather with temperatures at about 55°, very light wind and intermittent clouds and the roads should be dry.
Hope to see you there
