Living Craft Co-Creation Lab: Preserving 200 Years of Pottery Heritage
Welcome to a community dedicated to learning, hands-on experimentation, and meaningful cultural exchange. We gather to explore the centuries-old traditions of burnished pottery-making in Muang Kung village, Chiang Mai—a living heritage practiced for over 200 years that's at risk of disappearing.
This is not a commercial venture or sales-focused group. We're a learning community where members of all backgrounds—students, creatives, cultural enthusiasts, and travelers—come together to:
- Learn the traditional pottery-making process through direct experience with master artisans
- Co-design and create pottery pieces in collaboration with local craftspeople
- Build meaningful connections across cultures and generations
- Support cultural preservation by ensuring ancestral knowledge stays alive through active participation
- Grow as individuals by developing practical skills, cultural awareness, and appreciation for traditional craftsmanship
Our group is organized by Chulalongkorn University students as part of educational research aimed at designing sustainable economic models for rural craft communities. Every activity you participate in directly supports the artisans and helps shape the future of this village.
Come for the craft. Stay for the community.
