This hike works up out of the Ventura River Preserve up to the old Camino Cielo trail. This trail has only been recently opened up and is quite a rough go. Note that even though this hike is only 12 miles long it does indeed take 7 hours to complete. It may take longer depending on the group. There are great views from this trail over Ojai and the surrounding wilderness. Please do not sign up for this hike unless you are confidant you can hike for 7-8 hours over rough terrain. There are sections of scree, boulder hopping and scratching up a couple of short steep climbs. If you completed the hike to goat peak and could have gone another few hours you will like this hike.
I will start the hike on time as always so please be at the trailhead by 7:45.
To get to the trailhead turn off 101 N in Ventura onto 33. Travel 11.3 miles up 33 to Baldwin/150 and turn left. Continue for .2 miles and turn right on Rice. After 1.9 miles Rice runs into Fairview where you turn left. at the bottom of the hill you will find myers road. Turn left and drive to the end of the road where Myers intersects with OSO. We will meet at the white gate. Parking is along the road in the area..
