If your New Years Resolution is to start hiking, then this hike is for you! As the set for Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, Paramount Ranch was the start of one of our most popular hikes -- the original HWD Colorado to Korea hike -- that ended at the set of MASH in Malibu Creek State Park.
As you probably heard by now, the Western Town at Paramount Ranch has burned down. This hike will take in the rest of Paramount Ranch. Hike will be suitable for beginner at 3-4 miles with 200'-400' total ascent
Many of the trails cover terrain of woodlands and grasslands used in filming over the decades.
I am not going to repeat the history we can find in other hike descriptions on Meetup. Instead I will focus on the Ranch's history as a 1950's world-class race track! Most hikers are unaware that the broken sections of asphalt that twist through the eucalyptus trees and around the old western town, was in fact an official racecourse with international prestige.
