http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/5/c/2/event_90433762.jpegBommer Canyon is open to the public once a month -- and this is the day! So mark your calendars and RSVP today.

Rich in both Irvine Ranch lore and nature's bounty, Bommer Canyon beckons hikers to stroll past centuries-old oak and sycamore groves and craggy rock outcroppings.

Nestled in the heart of Bommer Canyon is part of the old Irvine Ranch Cattle Camp. Some of the original structures exist today, adding to the rustic feel of the Canyon. Bommer Canyon is also an important preservation area for many local plants and wildlife, including several endangered species.

http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/1/2/4/a/event_94024682.jpegWe'll connect this hike in the Irvine Ranch Conservancy to Little Sycamore and Camarillo Canyons in the Laguna Coast Wilderness area. This part of the hike offers wide-ranging views including the San Gabriels and Santa Anas, passes interesting sandstone geology and visits some quiet, secluded canyons

We'll make a pit stop at ultra-modern Nix Nature Center (http://www.lagunacanyon.org/nix_nature_center.html)

We'll do about 10-12 miles
