Accelerating Developer Productivity with Dagger and LocalStack

Details

Join our August meetup to discover how programmable pipelines and local cloud emulation can supercharge your CI/CD workflows.

Jason from Dagger will introduce the core concepts of treating pipelines as code with Dagger, running them locally, and composing them like software components. Harsh from LocalStack will demonstrate how to seamlessly run full AWS emulation within Dagger pipelines using the LocalStack Dagger module, including support for Cloud Pods and Ephemeral Instances.

Whether you're building modern CI systems or testing cloud apps locally, this session will give you practical tools to move faster and ship with confidence.

Supercharging CI with Dagger by Jason McCallister

Get an introduction to Dagger, the open-source programmable CI/CD engine designed for modern DevOps workflows.

This session introduces the core ideas behind Dagger; treating pipelines as code, running them locally, and composing them like software components. We’ll walk through real-world CI problems and how Dagger solves them with better reusability, testability, and modularity.

You’ll also get an overview of the growing ecosystem, including how Dagger integrates with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and more. Whether you’re a platform engineer or developer, you’ll have a clear picture of what makes Dagger different—and how to get started.

About Speaker

Jason is a Solutions Engineer with over 20 years of experience in software development, cloud infrastructure, and systems engineering. Before joining Dagger, he built a serverless cloud platform for a popular CMS that used Dagger to deploy AWS Lambda functions and programmatically manage database backups. He’s passionate about building scalable, maintainable systems and helping teams ship better software faster.

Getting started with the LocalStack Dagger module by Harsh Mishra

Get hands-on with the LocalStack Dagger module that brings the power of LocalStack into your Dagger pipelines.

This session explores how to run full AWS emulation locally within Dagger pipelines using simple, composable commands. We’ll take a look at how you can spin up LocalStack as a Dagger service, leverage persistent state with Cloud Pods, and spin up Ephemeral environments, all while keeping your workflow fast, testable, and repeatable.

Whether you're a DevOps engineer or cloud developer, you’ll walk away ready to supercharge your pipeline with LocalStack, directly inside Dagger.

About Speaker

Harsh Mishra is an Engineer at LocalStack and an AWS Community Builder. His interests are in DevOps, Platform Engineering, and CI/CD pipelines.
