About us
LocalStack Community features virtual speaker sessions in and around LocalStack, local cloud development, AWS, DevOps toolings, Snowflake and more! We connect technology professionals in the Cloud & DevOps space and discuss best practices, new tools & technologies, pitfalls, and more while striving to help developers build & test their cloud-native applications.
About LocalStack
LocalStack is a cloud development platform, focused on providing a better way to develop and test your cloud applications. LocalStack facilitates cloud application development on your local machine and across CI/CD by spinning up a local "cloud sandbox" that provides the same APIs and functionality as the real AWS and Snowflake cloud environments.
Speak at LocalStack Community Events
We seek virtual speakers and topics for our Community Events to build our meetup calendar. We are not just limited to LocalStack — Talks around AWS, Developer Productivity, Cloud Security, DevOps toolings, Development & Testing loops, Snowflake and more would add great value to our members.

Streamlining local graph development with LocalStack & TypeDB
·OnlineOnlineJoin our meetup to explore how TypeDB redefines data modeling for complex domains. Joshua from TypeDB will explain why Property Graphs fall short and introduce TypeDB as a strongly-typed alternative built for real-world relationships. Harsh from LocalStack will then demonstrate the TypeDB extension for LocalStack, showing how developers can build and test knowledge graph applications locally without any external infrastructure.
Why Property Graphs Aren't Enough by Joshua Send
We moved from Relational to Graph databases to solve the "Join Pain" and model the real world more naturally. But for many engineering teams, the promise of the Property Graph has been replaced by the reality of "Spaghetti Graphs"—complex queries, technical workarounds for multi-party relationships, and fragile schemas that break with every iteration and are a nightmare to maintain.
The problem isn't your data; it's your database model.
This talk will explore why standard Property Graphs (LPGs) struggle with complex domains and introduce TypeDB: a strongly-typed database that combines the connectivity of a graph with the integrity of a relational model.
About Speaker
Joshua has been part of TypeDB for 7 years. He led the TypeDB 3 rewrite in Rust and is now focused on improving the accessibility and UX of TypeDB, enhancing ecosystem integrations, and sharing the wonders and elegance of TypeDB with the world.
Build Knowledge Graph Apps with LocalStack and TypeDB by Harsh Mishra
Building knowledge graph applications on AWS is powerful—Lambda functions querying complex relationship hierarchies, API Gateway fronting TypeDB-backed services, and recursive schema functions resolving transitive memberships without any application logic. TypeDB's polymorphic model makes it a natural fit for access control systems, org hierarchies, and knowledge graphs.
But cloud-first development slows your inner dev loop and racks up unnecessary AWS spend with every schema iteration and query test.
This talk introduces the TypeDB extension for LocalStack: run a fully functional TypeDB server inside your local AWS environment, connect your application exactly as you would in production.
About Speaker
Harsh is an Engineer at LocalStack and an AWS Community Builder. His interests are in DevOps, Platform Engineering, and CI/CD pipelines.
